NECKLACES

Wearing V shape necklaces that are collar length or longer helps elongate a petite woman’s figure.  Meanwhile, if you are of average height, any necklace length will do.  Almost any length necklace looks appropriate on a taller woman, unless it is a choker necklace which can give a “cut-off” illusion. Necklaces made of gemstones or pearls that are the same size are particularly flattering on a taller woman.

BRACELETS

When choosing bracelets, the key is to keep them proportionate to height.  Bangle bracelets, particularly several narrow ones stacked together, accentuate a delicate wrist, while larger bracelets look best on a taller woman.

EARRINGS

The purpose of earrings is to guide the viewer’s eye upward, so your earring choice should complement your face shape and hair style.  Fun, geometric earrings look fantastic on a petite woman, while long, dangling earrings emphasize a taller woman’s height in all the right ways.  In fact, a taller woman can wear almost any length earrings because of the distance between the ear lobe and shoulder, except for tiny button earrings, which can become lost in profile.

There are four basic face shapes: oval, rectangular, round and heart-shaped.  It’s pretty easy to determine which one you are.  Once you have, select jewelry that is in proportion to your face and body.

Oval shapes, like Jennifer Aniston’s, are considered the perfect shape, as the proportions between the forehead and high cheekbones flow well.  Stud and hoop earrings look best, but triangular shapes are especially flattering.  Almost any pair of dangling earrings complements an oval face, as long as they are proportionate with the length of your neck.

A round face, like Emma Stone’s, is a circle shape with few angles, and where the width is equal to the length.  Draw attention down your face instead of around it with square or rectangle earrings, particularly dangling, elongated designs.

A rectangular face shape, like Angelina Jolie’s, has more length than width, with discernible angles.  This face shape needs earrings that add more width and downplays the length.  Balance your face shape with hoops and larger oval shaped earrings.

A heart shape, like Reese Witherspoon’s, is wider at the forehead and cheeks, but then sharply narrows to a point at the chin, creating a triangle look.  Add jewelry that will add width to the chin and draws the eye to that point with dangling earrings that are wider at the bottom than at the top.

When deciding on which wedding ring is right for you, first consider your lifestyle.  The type of work you do, any hobbies or sports, can impact the wear of your wedding ring.  Find one that can withstand your daily lifestyle and handle the treatment.  This can include alternative metals for your rings.  Gold and platinum are more traditional metals that are very durable, but many men’s trends have been shifting towards titanium, tungsten and cobalt.  These metals are extremely strong and are more resistant to bending and scratching.  This will help you in maintaining the polished look of your ring, which is recommended every year, to ensure your wedding bands always look their best.

Not only is your wedding band a symbol of love, but it is also a statement of style.  Do you like a simple look, or desire a look that’s a little different?  More classic or eclectic?  The ring you choose will reflect you for a long time, so consider a ring that does not play into a passing fad that you know you will enjoy for years to come.  For brides, some choose sets so that their rings fit together in perfect symmetry, or select a unique band that will complement the engagement ring.  Consider how the two rings will look together and apart, but ultimately, the look is all based on your style and preference.
