Today, Women’s Wear Daily announced the top 10 spring colors for 2015 and we’re seeing “nothing but blue skies.” Cooler colors seem to be making more of a statement over the last few seasons and Pantone’s Color Institute executive director, Leatrice Eiseman, explains why. “Being constantly barraged by text messages, cell phones, e-mail and all of this technology 24/7, cooler colors speak to creating a kind of quiet zone. They are a place to get away from it all, an escape button that, literally, we can push. It’s also kind of a freeing, open air. It’s just a natural aftermath for a crazy world.”
The 2015 spring colors and shades seem to overlap for men and women, which allows women to show off their feminine style with a hint of masculinity . The cool blue tones of Aquamarine, Scuba Blue, Lucite Green, and Classic Blue top the women’s list while Dusk Blue, Glacier Gray, Treetop, and Classic Blue are on top for the men.
Along with keeping things cool for 2015, tranquil is another word to describe the spring palette. Women can soak up the warm, yet subtle shades of Strawberry Ice, Tangerine, and Custard or imagine a a spring day at the beach with Toasted Almond, reminiscent of sand, and Glacier Gray, a ode to an overcast, April day.
Following the same tranquil path, the men’s colors pay tribute to a rugged forest with shades of Woodbine, Treetop, and Sandstone, while adding a feminine undertone of Marsala and Lavender Herb.
After all is said and done, it looks like Christian Dior was right in saying, “The tones of gray, pale turquoise, and pink will prevail.”
