Herend Artists Event

On November 10th and 11th, we have the distinctive opportunity to host our Herend Artist Event. In accordance with the Herend Porcelain Manufactory of Hungary, we are welcoming a Herend artist to demonstrate her work and sign your Herend pieces. Guests are also invited to view limited edition museum quality pieces that are rarely shown in the United States. As one of only ten stores in the United States chosen to host one of these events, we are excited to be able to share this experience with our clients and guests.

Herend has long been synonymous with the finest porcelain and incredible artistry. Since 1826, Herend has produced one of the most outstanding and distinctive hard-paste porcelains in the world. Each piece is painted entirely by hand, and many items are made by hand, making each piece special and unique.

Located in the village of Herend, Hungary, the manufactory employs potters to sculpt each piece and artists to hand paint each one. This traditional method of manufacturing has allowed the Herend Porcelain Manufactory to remain one of only six manufactories deemed a Historical Handicraft Manufactory by the prestigious Historical Handicraft Association of Europe.

Meet Accomplished Herend painter, Marianna Steigervald as she demonstrates painting techniques and signs purchases at our exclusive event.

Most notable about Herend is the fishnet design found on most of their figurines. Inspired by a Chinese plate with a fish scale design, a Herend artist in 1858 decided to put his own spin on it and incorporate the modified design onto a figurine to imitate feathers. Thus began a new tradition that is carried on today. All Herend artists who paint figurines are specifically trained in the fishnet design technique.

Herend figurines and dinnerware have not only adorned the homes of people all over the world, but have also been a favorite for royal families throughout history. More than 25 royal families are known to have owned Herend, including Prince William and Kate Middleton.

With such a celebrated history and dedication to hand-crafted artistry, it is no wonder that Herend is considered one of the most prestigious porcelain manufactories in the world. Please join us at our event Novemver 10th and 11th at our Princeton location for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet and observe a critically acclaimed Herend artist as she demonstrates techniques and signs purchases. Whether you know the Herend brand or not, this event is a true celebration of incredible art and appreciation of the beauty of tradition.
