Be it white, rose, yellow or some specially made color, gold is enjoying the limelight this month. May is Gold Month, a time when many designers, brands and organizations tout the precious metal to the public. Gold demand has been on the upswing during the first half of 2016.
According to the World Gold Council, gold had a glittering start this year, with the gold price rising by 17% in U.S. dollars in the first quarter — marking the metal’s best performance in nearly 30 years. Additionally, as top-notch jewelry and watch designers utilize gold for more creative and yet timeless products, the demand is on.
This may be why so many watch brands continue to offer classic and cutting-edge timepieces made in gold. Rose or pink gold continues to be the color of choice for most luxury watch brands, however white gold is not far behind. This year, too, we saw several key brands releasing exciting products in 18-karat yellow gold – a trend we expect will continue. Certain brands are also creating their own special hues of gold in an effort to continually stand out from the rest.
Rolex, for instance, offers its version of rose gold, Everose, that is specially made to be resistant to scratching. Make sure to visit our Princeton store to view our selection of Gold Rolex timepieces.
